I had fouled the spark plugs on my Ducati 750 Sport track bike and the bike would not rev above 1,000 RPM. Two of the bike’s four plugs were behind the belt pulleys. The common wisdom for accessing them was to remove the pulleys. I don’t own a pulley removal tool, leaving me no way to access the plugs.
With only hours to go before leaving for two days at the track with Fishtail Riding School, Miles Hubert of MotoFab looked at my problem. “I think we can get these out without removing the pulleys,” he said. “I’ll make you a tool”. Then he set to work.
He cut the top off a Craftsman 18mm socket. Then, he cut a dirt bike wheel spacer in half and welded it to the socket, extending it. Finally, he cut and welded a 12mm bolt to the spacer enabling me to turn the tool with an open-ended wrench.
