Americade 2020 is on -- at least for now -- but it will be a different Americade from past years. Large gatherings and indoor seminars have been canceled or are moving online. The expo and demo rides will look very different from past years, with lot’s of space and staggered entry. This year’s Americade is scheduled for July 21-25th.
“It’s an altered Americade, but it’s still going to be a great Americade”, said Americade President, Christian Dutcher in an April 22nd announcement moving the event from June to July.
Americade has always offered great self-guided tours and that will be the emphasis this year.Riders will have a choice of multiple restaurants, allowing them to choose one what is less crowded. And, the roads of the Adirondacks will be as great as ever.
Americade usually draws thousands to the Lake George region. This year will be a challenge, as attendees scramble for reservations during the busy summer season.
But, we’re looking forward to this great event and we’re happy that Americade is doing their best to make it happen.
Dutcher said that it wasn’t the right time to cancel the event. “… things are trending, ever so slightly in a positive direction and we didn’t feel it was right to cancel Americade -- at least not yet”, he said.
Still, the event could be canceled or postponed again, if they do not feel a safe environment can exist. “At any moment or any time during this process, if I feel or my team feels or the region feels it’s not the right decision, that it’s not safe, we won’t do it”, Dutcher said.
